Radiofrequency technology can be used for the following:
What is Radiofrequency?
Radiofrequency energy uses the tissue’s resistance within the various layers of the skin to transform the RF energy given to the skin into thermal energy. Many considerations are required for there to be successful transfer of the RF energy into thermal energy, including the size and depth of the tissue being treated, as one needs to consider the tissue impedance of the skin being treated. Since RF energy produces an electrical current instead of a light source, tissue damage can be minimized, and epidermal melanin is not damaged either.
Candidates for Radiofrequency
RF energies can be used for patients of all skin types – that is, it is color blind and allows for different depths of penetration based on what is to be treated, allowing for ultimate collagen contraction and production of new collagen. Candidates who are seeking to tighten skin, lift sagging skin, or reduce cellulite may fine RF suitable for noninvasive treatment.
What to Expect
A hand piece is used to conduct the treatment over the treatment site. The physician may go over the area with several passes. With each pass you may feel a nothing at all to a tingle to a pinch. This procedure should be painless. Depending on the location of treatment, the actual radiofrequency treatment ranges approximately 5-20 minutes. There may be mild pink or redness at the site of treatment. There is minimal to no downtime. Most people return to work right afterwards.
